Hachette Livre, a subsidiary of Lagardère SCA, is the third largest trade and educational book publisher in the world. In France, Hachette Livre, the result of patient construction begun in 1826, covers all segments of general publishing through some forty publishing houses and published more than 8,000 new titles in 2017. In the educational segment, the name Louis Hachette, strongly associated with educational books, sits alongside the prestigious names of Hatier and Larousse. About ten publishing houses, with catalogs that are part of the national heritage, cover general literature.
