Grupo Simec began its operations in the steel sector in 1969, when a group of families from Guadalajara, Mexico, founded Companhia Siderúrgica de Guadalajara S.A. Believing that steel effectively contributes to the development of all countries, it expanded its operations to Canada and the United States, solidifying its participation as an important competitor in these markets and reaching the mark of 6 million tons produced per year, being considered the largest producer of special steels in North America. In continuation of its expansion plan, Grupo Simec arrived in Brazil in 2015 with a steel mill located in Pindamonhangaba-SP, with products intended for civil construction. In 2018, two more plants became part of the Group, one in Cariacica-ES and the other in Itaúna-MG, with products aimed at industry and civil construction.
