On May 6, 2009, the Arzábal tavern opened at 2 Doctor Castelo Street in Madrid's Retiro neighborhood. The establishment, which could accommodate 6 tables and a bar for 20 people, was a faithful reflection of expectations: a combination of the traditional and the modern serving contemporary cuisine with a classic base. In early 2010, Arzábal received the Metrópoli award as Madrid's revelation restaurant of 2009. That was the trigger for the creation of a gastronomic group. Grupo Arzábal perfectly illustrates an entrepreneurial project reflecting a dream come true, a dream successfully fulfilled in times of recession, which has been realized with projects such as Taberna Arzábal, El Jardín de Arzábal, A Japanese Kirikata, Hermanos Pollo, Vinos Terrible, and Arzábal Food Truck.
