About GefaÖ Gesellschaft für angewandte Ökologie und Umweltplanung

The GefaÖ GmbH (Society for Applied Ecology and Environmental Planning) has been active in the fields of environmental and landscape planning since 1984. The strength of our company lies in a well-coordinated, interdisciplinary team that has worked together for many years. Experienced experts from the fields of biology, landscape planning, geography, geology, chemical and civil engineering, as well as CAD/GIS specialists, analyze the ecological aspects of planning projects with professional competence and economic responsibility. Since 1994, the GmbH has also been processing the environmental and social aspects of large international projects for technical development aid. GefaÖ GmbH is part and partner of the Fichtner Group. With Fichtner Water Transportation (FWT), there is intensive cooperation in the areas of aquatic ecology, water management, hydrology, hydraulic engineering, and flood protection. The joint concepts and plans extend, for example, to projects required within the framework of the implementation of the EU Water Framework Directive (2000/60/EC). These include, among others, planning and implementation of fish passage facilities and measures for river restoration. As of 02/01/2024, GefaÖ GmbH has taken over all employees of the "Planung und Umwelt - Planungsbüro Prof. Dr. Michael Koch" (P+U) office, based in Stuttgart and Berlin, as well as its current order backlog. This has doubled our company size and added further locations in Stuttgart and Berlin. In its 40-year history, P+U has earned an excellent reputation in the fields of environmental and landscape planning, thus significantly strengthening the competence of GefaÖ and, consequently, FWT in the environmental sector.
