The Rey Ardid Foundation is composed of different non-profit organizations, all created under the tutelage of the Ramón Rey Ardid Foundation, which was the precursor in 1991. It has been two decades since the Mental Health Medium-Stay Unit of Aragon was inaugurated in 1991. The Mental Health area was the starting point of the foundation until at a certain point the board strategically decided to expand its activity to serve other population sectors at risk of exclusion: children, the elderly, minors, immigrants. An expansion of services aimed at professionalizing these social services, thereby improving the quality of life for the most vulnerable people in society. Currently, Rey Ardid manages residences and day centers for the elderly. A Medium-Stay Unit and two psychosocial rehabilitation and support centers for people with severe mental disorders, reform and protection centers for young minors. A Training Service and an Integration and Employment Service. An area called Social Enterprises with different professional activities in which people with difficulties develop an occupation, learning a trade that favors their subsequent access to normalized employment. During the 25 years of work of the Rey Ardid Foundation, social services have evolved as much as the welfare state has. These are jobs with a certain vocational component but require continuous motivation and modern tools to facilitate care. The name of the Foundation honors the illustrious Psychiatry Professor Don Ramón Rey Ardid, born in Zaragoza in 1903 and died in the same city in 1988.
