About FTD Educação

FTD was born in Brazil in 1902, expanding the work of the Marist Brothers who had been in the country since 1897 managing several schools. FTD is a tribute to Frère Théophane Durand, Superior General of the Marist Congregation between 1883 and 1907. During his tenure, he encouraged the Brothers to write school books for various subjects. These books became part of the collection, which was titled the FTD Collection of Textbooks. His actions greatly stimulated the production of didactic works for all subjects and marked the professionalization of Marists as educators and the expansion of this great work. More than 100 years of thinking far beyond books and the classroom have inspired FTD to embrace an even greater commitment: to transform society through Education, with the desire to think beyond and see Education as a moment that inspires discovery, choice, freedom, and citizenship.
