FreedomPark launched in March 2001 as the first-ever curbside valet parking service in the United States. Conceived with the goal of providing at-your-gate drop off and pick up service, the company hoped to allow travelers the convenience of sedan or taxi service while offering the affordability and flexibility of driving and parking their own vehicle. Early challenges threatened the survival of the company and of the concept of airport curbside valet parking, including the near total cessation of air travel following the terrorist attacks of 9/11, and roadblocks later introduced by the airport itself. Yet customer enthusiasm for the revolutionary convenience and for the high level of customer service delivered by FreedomPark sustained the venture. Today, many US airports have followed the FreedomPark lead, and now offer some form of valet parking. Still, FreedomPark continues to set the service standard with innovations such as gate notification via text message, oil change due alerts, and show-room new vehicle detailing services. FreedomPark’s focus has always been, and continues to be, on the customer experience. Growth and expansion are viewed as a byproduct of providing the best customer service in the travel industry. As a result, FreedomPark continues to enjoy healthy growth at DFW Airport driven almost totally by customer referrals, and is evaluating opportunities to expand its best-in-class services to other airports.
