With over 57,000 students, FOM University of Applied Sciences, Germany's University for Working Professionals, is one of the largest universities in Europe. It is an initiative of the non-profit foundation BildungsCentrum der Wirtschaft, based in Essen. FOM offers working professionals the opportunity to study part-time without having to interrupt or give up their employment. The program includes more than 40 practice-oriented degree programs in the fields of Economics & Management, Economics & Psychology, Economics & Law, Health & Social Affairs, IT Management, and Engineering. All Bachelor's and Master's degrees from FOM are recognized both nationally and internationally. For around 30 years, FOM University of Applied Sciences has offered working professionals part-time studies that can be combined with training and employment, using its established on-campus concept. Lectures take place in various study time models - including evening, daytime, and Saturday classes, and occasionally block study - at one of the 35 university centers in Germany and in Vienna. Since the winter semester 2021, it has also offered a Digital Live Study program, where lectures are broadcast live and online from multifunctional FOM studios. This sets new standards in university teaching, as the study program has also been optimally adapted didactically for Digital Live Study. Practical relevance is a top priority at FOM: The university maintains close contact with over 1,000 partner companies, including corporations such as Bertelsmann, IBM, Siemens, and Telekom, as well as many medium-sized businesses. Many company representatives are involved in the university's committees and provide important impulses for the establishment of new study centers and the development of new degree programs. A well-structured organization is the basis for high quality in teaching and research: The Rectorate, study and subject leaders, and deans ensure that the university's curricula always correspond to the latest scientific findings. A comprehensive concept that convinces: Since 2004, FOM has regularly received the seal of approval from the German Council of Science and Humanities. The FIBAA's assessment is also positive: FOM University of Applied Sciences has been system-accredited since 2012. This confirms its position among universities with the best quality management. Furthermore, the state recognition of FOM University of Applied Sciences was extended for another ten years in July 2020 by the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia.
