Flamma, an acronym for Fabbrica Lombarda AmminoAcidi, has two production sites in Italy – one in Chignolo d’Isola and the other in Isso – a third, very recently acquired site in Bulciago (LC) – and specializes in the production of active ingredients and intermediates for the pharmaceutical industry. From the few grams produced in laboratories to the tons produced in modern plants, Flamma is one of the Italian leaders in process research. The Chignolo d’Isola company partners with small and large pharmaceutical companies in the development of new treatments, through the development of industrial processes for drug production. Founded in 1950 by a doctor from Bergamo with the goal of improving post-war living conditions, Flamma first grew locally by acquiring a second site in Bergamo and then embraced the challenge of globalization by acquiring a plant in China in 2007, investing in 4 research and development centers, and opening commercial offices in Boston and Paris. Today, the group employs 670 people worldwide and has a turnover exceeding 100 million euros. It is led by the third generation of the founder’s family and maintains the original vision, which has patient health as its ultimate goal.
