First Call Hospice is a locally operated hospice located in Citrus Heights CA, serving the greater Metro Sacramento Area. First Call is certified with Medicare and Medi-Cal to provide hospice care to the terminally ill. We strive to be the Employer of choice first and in turn as we do that great clinical care will come and we will be the hospice provider of choice. We strive to be very employee centric organization and have worked hard to create an employee first environment build on guiding principles that help guide us in in this initiative. OUR PURPOSE: First Call Hospice provides Hospice home care services, as well as inpatient services at contracted facilities. First Call Hospice is Medicare/Medical certified and is licensed by the state of California as a Hospice which contracts with other health care facilities and agencies for inpatient type services. Hospice care is offered to clients in their private homes, residential care facilities, and to those in skilled nursing facilities with whom a valid contract is in place. Hospice care has evolved as a result of the desire of terminally ill patients and their families to live life until death with dignity, and with the highest level of comfort possible for body, mind and spirit. The purpose of our Hospice program and its services is to assist clients, both the terminally ill person and the family, in this process. PHILOSOPHY OF CARE: Death is a natural part of life. When death is inevitable, hospice will neither seek to hasten nor to postpone it. Hospice care established pain and symptom control as an appropriate clinical goal. Hospice does not hasten or postpone death but helps the patient live as fully as possible. Hospice recognizes death as both a spiritual and a physical experience. Psychological and spiritual pain are as significant as physical pain and deserve the same attention. Patients, their families and loved ones are the unit of care. We have learned that in order to effectively care for patients, we cannot separate them from their environment. That environment includes their homes, families, their friends and their life experiences. Bereavement care is critical to supporting surviving family members and friends. Hospice care is made available by most hospices regardless of the patient’s ability to pay.
