FAW-Volkswagen was established on February 6, 1991, as a large passenger car manufacturing enterprise jointly operated by China FAW Group Co., Ltd., Volkswagen AG, Audi AG, and Volkswagen (China) Investment Co., Ltd. It was China's first modern passenger car manufacturing enterprise built to scale. After 30 years of development, FAW-Volkswagen's production capacity layout now spans Northeast Changchun, Southwest Chengdu, South China Foshan, East China Qingdao, and North China Tianjin. It boasts eight specialized manufacturing plants: Car Plant I, Car Plant II, Car Plant III, Car Plant IV, Car Plant V, Car Plant VI, the Powertrain Division, and the Stamping Center. From one brand and one product at its inception to three brands—Audi, Volkswagen, and Jetta—and nearly 20 products today, including the Audi A6L, Audi A6L PHEV, Audi Q5L, Audi A4L, Audi Q3, Audi A3 Limousine, Audi A3 Sportback, Audi Q2L, Magotan, CC, Tayron, T-Roc, Sagitar, Golf, Golf Variant, C-Trek, Bora, and Jetta brand products, FAW-Volkswagen has become a mature domestic manufacturer covering A, B, and C-segment passenger car models.
