In response to the considerable need for qualified personnel in the care sector, the Federal Council decided in December 2016 to support targeted measures to promote the image of long-term care professions and the career opportunities they offer. Building on this decision, the professional organizations CURAVIVA Switzerland, Home Care Switzerland, and OdASanté consequently launched a national campaign. With the slogan "The most important profession in Switzerland," it presents the different professions offered by the sector to young people and adults seeking a career. At the same time, this campaign informs professionals in the care and health sector, as well as the general public, about the diplomas and interesting fields of activity in long-term care, as well as the associated career opportunities. The central objective of the campaign is to increase the number of tertiary-level diplomas in the care sector and to encourage existing staff to remain in the profession. The campaign is supported by the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI). It is also accompanied by the Swiss Conference of Cantonal Directors of Public Health (CDS), the Association of Private Spitex Organizations (ASPS), the Swiss Nurses Association (SNA), the Swiss Umbrella Organization for Social Work (SAVOIRSOCIAL), the Association of Swiss Health and Social Care Training Centers (ASCFS), and the Association of Economically Independent Homes for the Elderly (senesuisse).
