Esposende was founded in October 1970, on Rua 7 de Setembro, in the center of Recife. Starting its activities in the capital of Pernambuco, within the first five years, three more locations were inaugurated, and by the 1990s, Esposende already had 28 stores throughout the state. Seeing the brand's potential, the Paquetá Group, which was then well-established in the South of the country, saw Esposende as an excellent opportunity for its expansion plans in the Northeast region. And so, the company originating from Rio Grande do Sul took over the chain of stores in 2005. At the time, Esposende had 30 stores between Pernambuco and Ceará; today there are over 70 units, also operating in the markets of Paraíba, Rio Grande do Norte, and Maranhão, and throughout Brazil via its online store. One of the leaders in the footwear segment in Pernambuco, Esposende also ranks 18th in the state's overall ranking and employs approximately 2,260 employees in the Region.
