Esporte Clube Santo André was founded on September 18, 1967, at the time as Santo André Futebol Clube. At the time of its founding, the expectation was to create a club that would rival the main exponents of interior football, as Campinas, Ribeirão Preto, São José do Rio Preto, and so many other cities shone with their representatives. The Santo André rose from almost nothing, from the abstract idea of representing professional football in the Municipality, to a position of prominence in the sporting and institutional hierarchy. The official launch as a professional club, a candidate for the Campeonato da Federação Paulista de Futebol, took place on January 20, 1968, at the Paço Municipal de Santo André, with great celebration. On March 22, 1975, Santo André Futebol Clube became known as Esporte Clube Santo André, the name used to this day. The uniform colors were also changed. Green and yellow gave way to blue and white. Santo André currently has over 4,000 active members, who enjoy complete infrastructure at the social headquarters, located in Parque Jaçatuba, in Santo André. The site spans over 57,000 square meters and includes football fields, an aquatic park, a heated pool, courts, and a gym, among other facilities.
