About Erzbistum Paderborn

Founded in 799, we look back on a history of over 1,200 years. Geographically, the Archdiocese of Paderborn covers an area of around 15,000 square kilometers, from Minden to Siegen and from Höxter to Herne in the western Ruhr area. It also includes the former Waldeck district (Hesse) and the town of Bad Pyrmont (Lower Saxony). Approximately 3,000 employees work for the Archdiocese of Paderborn. They and many volunteer workers are committed every day to shaping a vibrant faith and fulfilling the mission of the Church. As the Church of Paderborn, our core tasks can be divided into the following three main areas: Pastoral care, accompaniment, and counseling Education and upbringing Art and culture Our church activities can be found wherever people come together.
