Empire Comfort Systems is a family-owned company since 1932, offering a full line of gas-fired products for independent dealers, all made in the USA. Founded by Henry Bauer in 1911 as a sheet metal shop, Empire Stove Company was formally incorporated in 1932, producing sheet metal heaters that utilized natural gas. Despite economic downturns, wars, labor strife, fires, and societal changes, the Bauer family has remained a constant, with Nick Bauer and Jane Bauer representing the fourth generation of family operation. Empire was the first to market vent-free heaters with an Oxygen Depletion Sensor. In the 1980s, Empire pioneered an 80-percent efficient gas-fired heater, and in 2006, introduced the first vented gas fireplace to achieve 90-percent efficiency. Today, their offerings include vented, vent-free, and B-Vent heaters and fireplaces, vented and vent-free log sets, fireplace inserts, and cast iron stoves.
