About Diakonie Leipzig

Diakonie is characterized by faith in God, and thus by faith in a reality greater than that which is experienced in daily life. From the Christian hope for the future, which is rooted in this faith, we gain the strength to support people in shaping a life that is as self-determined as possible. Our services are therefore a consequence of Jesus's command, which is particularly contained in the commandment "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." (Matthew 22:39). In addition, diaconal services are a response to social needs in society. We provide these services as people with a variety of talents, skills, professions, experiences, and knowledge. We accompany fellow human beings on the basis of the Christian image of humanity and thus see them as unique personalities created and loved by God. Therefore, the tangible respect for the dignity and individuality of every human being is paramount for us. The Diakonische Werk Innere Mission Leipzig e.V. is active in various ways in the nursing, social, and educational fields as a registered association. Our organization is a member of the Diakonisches Werk der Evangelisch-Lutherischen Landeskirche Sachsens e.V. and thus part of our church.
