Dehaati Gramothan Vikas Samiti (DGVS) is a leading voluntary organization in UP registered under SRA 1860, launched on August 13, 1986. For over three and a half decades, DGVS has collaborated with government systems, community groups, and stakeholders to address issues confronting the most disadvantaged and marginalized sections of society. Based on its learnings, the society continuously evolves strategies that are contextually relevant, sustainable, replicable, and achievable. DGVS has successfully developed linkages between various projects and works in an integrated manner to achieve desired results. Over the past 37 years, the organization has implemented numerous projects including Women Empowerment, Education, Minority & Tribal welfare, Reproductive Child Health, Water and Sanitation, Ravine Stabilization, Beggary rehabilitation, Old Aged care, Water Recharging, Environment, Forest & Bio-Diversity, Road Safety and Drivers Training, Advancement of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Nutrition, Rural Development & Poverty Alleviation, Dairy, Community Mobilization, Transgender support, Drug Addiction prevention, Self Help Groups (SHGs), Micro-credit, Art & Culture, and Vocational & Skill Trainings for Youths. DGVS primarily focuses on Children Education, Women Empowerment, and the Socio-economic upliftment of the poor in the community, with attention to Health and environment. We have now started intervening in Panchayats, as all developmental plans are now initiated and implemented by the Gram Panchayats. Cross-cutting strategies to improve the health and nutrition status of the poorest and marginalized communities have remained a crucial area of work this year. The focus has continued to be on quality healthcare, nutrition, water, and sanitation services to reduce maternal and child mortality. Improvement of maternal and child health, elimination of diseases, family planning, and upgrading health determinants have been prioritized. Through our work, we have observed an enhancement in the participation of rural communities, especially women from Self Help Groups, in public health management through the Village Health Sanitation and Nutrition Committees. DGVS is known for its transparency. The way our programs function, and the way we work as an organization has a lot of clarity and transparency. Nothing is hidden. DGVS has always worked to accurately account for and report the Society's financial position, promote sound financial management, and provide quality services to donors. The centralized finance function is performed from the Head Office and serves the needs of all offices across the States, ensuring all transactions adhere to the Society's policies and procedures, generally accepted accounting principles, and rules established by statutory bodies. DGVS values a culture of accountability and integrity committed to doing the right thing.
