The department of Creuse is located in the center of France, in the Northeast of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. In the northwestern part of the Massif Central, Creuse is surrounded by the departments of Haute-Vienne, Corrèze, Allier, Puy-de-Dôme, Indre, and Cher. It occupies a very central position, 350 km south of Paris, 350 km west of Lyon, and 315 km northeast of Bordeaux. Creuse is a hilly department, where small mountains predominate in the southeast and the hills are sometimes high in the north and west. Its territory is irrigated by numerous rivers, including the Creuse, which crosses it from one end to the other. With nearly 1,200 agents, the Department of Creuse is one of the main employers in the region. It builds the future of the people of Creuse by pursuing a policy that is attentive to the most vulnerable and ambitious for the development and attractiveness of the territories. The Department works to improve the daily lives of the people of Creuse, thanks to its Departmental Assembly composed of 30 departmental councilors and its agents spread throughout the territory.
