Confcommercio Milano is the representative body for businesses engaged in the tertiary sectors in the provinces of Milan, Lodi, Monza, and Brianza. Confcommercio Milano (formerly known as the Union of Commerce, Tourism, Services, and Professions) plays a leading economic, social, and cultural role in valuing and promoting local entrepreneurship and in fostering opportunities for meeting and exchange. It engages in dialogue and discussion with political representatives and institutions to improve the quality of measures and decisions that have significant impacts on tertiary sector businesses. ASSOCIATIONS The ability of the Confcommercio Milano System to aggregate diverse realities and interests is also confirmed by its numbers: there are approximately 40,000 member companies, employing over 300,000 people. Confcommercio Milano is an "association of associations," comprising all members enrolled in their respective categories or territorial offices. 92 trade associations and 18 territorial associations are affiliated with the Organization. The categories are divided as follows: • 35 in retail trade • 24 in wholesale and foreign trade • 23 in the services sector • 6 operating in tourism • 4 in the professions sector Each association offers its members specific assistance on the needs of their sector and on requirements related to their reference territory. Confcommercio Milano represents the interests of the affiliated trade and territorial associations before institutions and exercises a union role in defending the rights of businesses and category claims. Confcommercio Milano offers assistance and support for all business needs through an organization of central departments and affiliated entities that, depending on the case and needs, assist the associations or the member companies directly.
