Colégio São Bento

About Colégio São Bento

The Colégio de São Bento is a Catholic, Benedictine educational institution for Elementary and High School. Founded by the Monastery of São Bento in 1858, it has offered educational services to boys only since its foundation. It is located at Rua Dom Gerardo, 68, in the center of Rio de Janeiro, which gives it another of its characteristics: it is not a neighborhood school, thus maintaining students from diverse locations in Rio de Janeiro and some neighboring cities, such as Niterói, Nova Iguaçu, and Caxias, among others. The College offers Basic Education divided into Elementary School I, from the 1st to 5th grade; Elementary School II, from the 6th to 9th grade; and High School, from the 1st to 3rd year, with all stages operating on a full-time schedule. Thus, students begin their school activities at 7:30 AM and end their day at the College at 4:30 PM.
