Colégio Madalena Sofia is committed to education based on human values, notably autonomy and the defense of life. We believe in an education based on dialogue, critical and creative reflection, developing an educational proposal centered on learning and the valorization of life for the formation of competent individuals prepared to positively influence the world. We understand school as a space for learning in all dimensions and, above all, we believe that everyone can grow and mature as people, opening ourselves to differences, in the construction of a multicultural identity, which includes care for the environment and sustainability. 60 years of tradition in Bairro Alto It was in the French city of Amiens, in 1800, that the first Colégio Sacré-Coeur de Jésus was founded by Madeleine Sophie Barat, then only 21 years old. When Sacré-Coeur de Jésus came to Curitiba, the sisters were already active on five continents, but they only had three establishments in Brazil, in Rio de Janeiro and Belo Horizonte. In Curitiba, as in other parts of the world, Sacré-Coeur was dedicated to the education of women with special attention to the religious formation of its students. The proposal for the foundation of Colégio Sacré-Coeur de Jésus in Curitiba arose in August 1955, which would be authorized by the State Legislative Assembly for the donation of land in 1956. The move to the definitive headquarters occurred in August 1959, despite the work not yet being completed. The new building of Colégio Sacré-Coeur was officially inaugurated in 1960 and today, in 2020, in our 60th year since our inauguration, we continue this beautiful story based on the education of our students, seeking to build values that will last a lifetime.
