Codelco is the world's leading copper producer. It is owned by the Chilean State, whose main business is the exploration, development, and exploitation of copper and byproduct mineral resources, their processing, and subsequent commercialization. In 2013, it produced 1.792 million metric tons of fine copper, a figure equivalent to about 10% of world production. The company carries out its operations through eight divisions.
