The CIZ assesses whether people are entitled to care under the Long-Term Care Act. The CIZ does this with the understanding that the rules are the same for everyone, but that people do differ from each other. For this reason, CIZ employees personally investigate the individual care needs of an applicant for long-term care. The investigation is independent and takes place with objective criteria, so that the assessment is the same everywhere in the country. These criteria are based on guidelines from the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport. The CIZ has existed since 2005. The organization has over 1500 employees and branches in Amsterdam, Utrecht (headquarters), Nijmegen, Rotterdam, and Zwolle.
