About CHUV

The CHUV is one of the five Swiss university hospitals, alongside the hospitals of Geneva, Bern, Basel, and Zurich. It pursues three core missions entrusted by public authorities: care, training, and research. With over 11,500 employees, the CHUV is the largest employer in the canton of Vaud. Of European scale, the CHUV is both a tertiary hospital with high-tech equipment, a regional hospital for the population of the Lausanne agglomeration, as well as a specialized reference center for the entire canton of Vaud, and for a significant part of French-speaking Switzerland. The CHUV comprises 17 clinical, medico-technical, academic, and administrative departments, as well as a psychogeriatric medico-social establishment (EMS). It provides care in all areas of medicine: somatic conditions and psychiatric illnesses, medical and surgical disciplines, outpatient and inpatient treatments. To ensure the undergraduate, postgraduate, and continuing education of doctors, the CHUV is closely linked to the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne. It also collaborates with other Lake Geneva universities (EPFL, ISREC, Ludwig Institute), the University Hospitals of Geneva, as well as with other hospitals, healthcare facilities, or institutions such as the Federation of Vaudois Hospitals and the Vaudois Medical Society.
