The Poitiers University Hospital Center is the reference healthcare facility with regional scope. Its missions are reinforced within a regional health organization plan whose objectives are: better assessment of health needs, greater consideration of the territorial dimension, closer collaboration between establishments, professionals, elected officials, and users, and effective coordination of their implementation within each health territory. CARE The Poitiers University Hospital Center has over 1,900 beds and places, spread across three sites: the Milétrie hospital, the Lusignan site, and the Montmorillon site. It employs over 6,000 people. It is the reference healthcare facility in Poitou-Charentes. It also provides a local service for the residents of Poitiers, offering a complete care pathway: short-stay, post-treatment and rehabilitation care, long-term care. It carries out a regional referral and appeals mission for the residents of Poitou-Charentes, particularly in cardiology, oncology, geriatrics, neurosurgery, pediatrics, biology, and imaging. RESEARCH A committee for biomedical and public health research was established in 2005. It brings together the University Hospital Center, the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy, and a representative from the National Institute of Health and Medical Research (Inserm) to discuss the mutual priorities of the University Hospital Center and the university regarding research dynamics at the Poitiers site. TEACHING A Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy, a preparatory program for medical and paramedical entrance exams, a training center for emergency care, schools for nursing assistants, nurse anesthetists, and midwives, training institutes for healthcare managers, medical radiographers, physical therapists, and nursing staff.
