About Chambre de Métiers et de l'artisanat
The law creating chambers of trades was passed on July 26, 1925, at the initiative of deputy Joseph Courtier. It aims to "give professions bodies that enable them to officially express their opinions on subjects that concern them." The decree implementing this law was published on April 14, 1928. On December 31, 1929, the first two chambers of trades were created. These were those of Haute-Marne and Seine Inférieure, followed by many others throughout the 1930s.
