Founded in 1923, Casa del Libro is today the leading bookstore chain in the sector. In 1992 it was integrated into the Planeta Group, in 1995 it opened its virtual bookstore and in 1999 it began an expansion phase by locating in the best commercial areas of the main Spanish cities. It currently has 36 bookstores: Malaga, two in Zaragoza, Seville, Gandia, Oviedo, Gijon, Vitoria, Ponferrada, Castellon, Cartagena, Vigo, Alicante, A Coruña, Valladolid, two in Bilbao, two in Valencia, seven in Barcelona and ten in Madrid. Casa del Libro grows and evolves, reinforcing its rich bookstore tradition, as it is above all a "deep" bookstore with more than 500,000 references in its catalog. Furthermore, Casa del Libro continues its digital commitment and expands the Tagus World with four new e-reader models and a tablet, which adapt to the different digital reading habits of users.
