The vision of Caritas is an open, diverse, and solidary society. With around 10,000 employees and just as many volunteers, the Caritas Association Munich-Freising is the largest social welfare organization in Upper Bavaria and offers a wide range of social services in the areas of living in old age, children, youth and family, participation and inclusion, migration and integration, health and addiction, and for people in need. 70,000 people are supported annually through these services. The Caritas Association is one of six top associations in which Germany's free welfare system is largely organized. Around 30,000 employees work for the Caritas diocesan association Munich-Upper Bavaria and its affiliated providers as a top association. The basis for this is the Caritas employment contract regulations (AVR-Caritas). The full-time staff are supported by a large number of dedicated volunteers. As a welfare association, the Caritas Association bundles and represents the common interests of its members. It informs and advises them on political and professional issues. It supports them in dealing with regulatory requirements as well as in matters of fees and subsidies. In political bodies and in public, it acts as an advocate and partner for disadvantaged people and campaigns for a solidary society.
