The village of Cantley is part of the Cantley, Limpenhoe and Southwood parish split across these three distinct villages located over an area of just under 13 sq. km. The main village is Cantley best known for being home to the British Sugar factory. The parish has a total population of 900 people (2021 census) and is part of the Brundall ward of Broadland District Council, and the Blofield and Brundall county division. It is equal distance between Norwich and Great Yarmouth. The community is surrounded to the south by the River Yare and serviced by daily Greater Anglia rail services between Norwich and Lowestoft and occasional trains to Great Yarmouth. It is a traditional cul-de-sac village that has been neglected and unsupported over the years. Our current village hall, constructed in 1930 with an expected lifespan of 50 years, requires replacement. We have established a project to demolish the existing hall and build a new state-of-the-art community hub, approximately 300 sq. meters in size. This new hub will include an enhanced children's playground, the addition of adult fitness equipment, and a renewed car park. We aim to complete this by the Autumn of 2026 to coincide with the 100th birthday of the establishment of the charity.
