Camanchaca began operations in Chile in 1965, with an activity focused on shrimp and prawn fishing and processing. In 1980, a change in company direction led to a diversification strategy towards other seafood products, including aquaculture, which drove steady and constant growth. Currently, Camanchaca participates in extractive fishing businesses in northern and southern Chile, in Atlantic Salmon aquaculture, and in the cultivation of Mussels and Abalones. Its operations extend from northern Chile, in Iquique, to the south of the country, along 6,640 kilometers of coastline. This growth has positioned it in a privileged place in international markets, exporting to more than 50 countries. In the fishing sector, Camanchaca has increasingly oriented its production towards human consumption, including frozen and canned hake, prawns, and Omega 3-rich oils, in addition to fishmeal production. In the salmon sector, the Company became the first salmon producer worldwide to obtain four stars for the Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) certification, provided by the Global Aquaculture Alliance (GAA). This standard is highly valued by consumers, retailers, and Food Service operators globally, and guarantees that salmon production is carried out in an environmentally and socially responsible manner, and is safe for human consumption. Furthermore, it is noteworthy that Camanchaca is a founding member of the Global Salmon Initiative (GSI), an alliance representing approximately 50% of the world's farmed salmon production. GSI recognizes the role of salmon farming in sustainably meeting the growing global demand for healthy proteins in the coming decades, making significant industry-wide progress. To establish a close presence in the strategic markets where its products are sold, the Company has set up offices or commercial representations in the United States, Japan, Europe, and more recently in Central America/Caribbean and China/Southeast Asia. In this latter market, it is developing the New World Currents brand together with other Chilean producers, in addition to its corporate offices in Santiago, Chile. Everyone at Camanchaca is committed to its mission of "feeding the world from the sea," delivering top-quality fish and seafood.
