The CPR is an autonomous social security body of the SNCF since June 30, 2007. It manages the special welfare (health insurance) and retirement plan for railway workers and their families. In conjunction with the opening of the railway sector to competition and as part of a management delegation from Cnam covering 70,000 beneficiaries covered by the general scheme, it will become in 2024 the social protection body for the entire railway sector. It pays out approximately 7 billion euros in social benefits annually to over 470,000 beneficiaries. The CPR relies on the expertise of 800 employees, most of whom work at the Marseille headquarters but also within a local network covering the entire country. It operates in the social protection sector alongside the general scheme (CPAM, CARSAT...), the agricultural scheme (MSA), and other special schemes. The CPR is also a major player and social partner in the railway world, whose developments and changes it has always supported.
