Established in 1995 in Shenzhen, China, BYD Company Limited is a multinational company leading in the development of new technologies. BYD Chile was established in December 2014 as a subsidiary of BYD Company Limited. The company introduced Chile's first fleet of electric taxis, which began operation in the city of Santiago in December 2015. In May 2016, in cooperation with the Municipality of Santiago, BYD presented Chile's first electric bus. Starting in August 2018, this bus began its first operation in the regions, specifically in the city of Concepción. On November 14, 2017, BYD Chile marked a milestone by presenting the first two certified electric buses for operation in the Public Transport System of the city of Santiago, Transantiago, which travel the capital from west to east, providing a high-standard quality service for the population. In 2018, BYD Chile completed the delivery of the largest fleet in America, with the first 100% electric buses that will begin operating in December in the city of Santiago. Thus, BYD consolidates itself as a pioneer and leader in electromobility in the country.
