Since 1896, the name Bochum-Gelsenkirchener Straßenbahnen Aktiengesellschaft (BOGESTRA) has stood for reliable mobility in the central Ruhr area and has accompanied generations of people on their life paths. Today, as a wholly-owned subsidiary of the cities of Bochum and Gelsenkirchen. Every day, around 2,400 employees ensure that hundreds of thousands of passengers in the central Ruhr area reach their destination safely, affordably, and environmentally friendly. Our buses and trains serve stops in the cities of Bochum, Gelsenkirchen and Herne, as well as in the Ennepe-Ruhr district and surrounding towns. BOGESTRA's success is based on the commitment and know-how of our employees from numerous nations. As one of the largest employers in the region and a training company, we offer young people the opportunity to start their careers in various training occupations, career changers to get to know the world of public transport, or new perspectives for old hands.
