Biofactory S.p.A. is one of the leading composting facilities in Italy. The Biofactory composting process is certified with an Integrated Management System UNI EN ISO 14001. Biofactory annually recovers over 100,000 tons of waste through an aerobic bio-oxidative process, divided into: WET WASTE, GREEN WASTE, consisting of pruning waste and waste from park and garden maintenance, as well as biodegradable waste not intended for human consumption. Through the controlled transformation and stabilization process of organic waste, Biofactory produces approximately 40,000 tons/year of "mixed composted soil conditioner" and "green composted soil conditioner" of Quality as defined by Legislative Decree 75/2010. Quality is guaranteed by a voluntary certification quality mark awarded to members of CIC, the Italian Composters Consortium, following compliance with certain requirements such as product traceability and predefined chemical-physical characteristics. Biofactory Compost, also registered in the Register of Fertilizers permitted in Organic Agriculture, can be used as is in agriculture, particularly in fruit growing and specialized horticulture, and in open fields to improve soil fertility, or mixed with other matrices to produce professional and hobbyist growing media used in horticulture and nursery gardening. The composting process contributes to the sustainable use of resources: by reducing organic waste and plant waste sent to landfills, by limiting the use of non-renewable resources to produce chemical fertilizers, by closing the organic waste management cycle: from separate collection to the use of the finished product. Of the treated waste, less than 2% is disposed of in special facilities, in the form of plastic and other inert materials; more than 98% of the waste is therefore effectively recovered.
