The Bavarian Red Cross – a public law corporation – is one of the largest welfare organizations and the leading aid organization in Bavaria. It is divided into 73 district associations, 5 regional associations, and the state headquarters. Currently, approximately 24,500 employees work for us. 40% of our employees work in elderly care (inpatient care facilities, day care facilities, and outpatient care services), 25% in emergency medical services, another 25% in social work (volunteer services, daycare centers, migration services, services for people with disabilities, social psychiatry, youth and family, and refugee work), and in service departments (transport services, meals on wheels, emergency call services, clothing stores). The remaining 10% are distributed across our administration and other fields of work. In our five Red Cross Communities – emergency response teams, mountain rescue, youth red cross, water rescue, and welfare and social services – approximately 180,000 volunteers are committed to the humanitarian ideals of the Red Cross in their free time.
