The Backhaus Children and Youth Services (BKJH): Innovative forms of help for young people. Family-oriented for almost 50 years. Committed to the guiding principle "KiM – Child in the Center". The core of BKJH's work is the Profifamilien® (foster families), where children and adolescents experience bonding and protection within a family setting. In addition, BKJH operates, among other things, group pedagogical, intensive pedagogical, and therapeutic facilities, a clearing station, and a mother-father-child facility. BKJH consistently works according to its guiding principle "KiM – Child in the Center" and, in this spirit, relies on bonding as a fundamental criterion for healthy development. Especially in small units, such as the Profifamilien®, the traumas of the young people entrusted to BKJH can be processed. In addition to its pedagogical commitment, Backhaus Children and Youth Services advocates for the diversity of its workforce and sees the differences among its employees as a benefit. Diversity is to be given special appreciation, and continuous work is done to create a work environment free of prejudice and discrimination in the teams, in the work with young people, and their families of origin. Currently, over 800 employees are committed to the bonding concept at 12 Pedagogical Centers throughout Northern Germany, caring for over 550 young people.
