The men and women who began writing social history in 1919 with simple but practical things like soup kitchens and clothing closets did so with a vision. The vision then, as now, was to create a society characterized by freedom, equality, justice, solidarity, and tolerance. These five core values of the AWO have endured the century and many changes. With our work, we aim to overcome inequalities, create social justice, and enable all people to participate in society and culture. The human being has always been at the center of our work. In the South-West region, with more than 20 facilities and services, it offers a wide range of professional support for children, adolescents, and families. Our range of services includes open all-day care, therapeutic school programs, neighborhood work and social counseling, counseling centers for upbringing, residential groups, cooperative school training and day groups, as well as outpatient youth welfare services. To create perspectives together, we design our services in the social areas with high flexibility and individuality. With our diverse offerings, we particularly aim to promote equal opportunities and social justice in order to allow children and adolescents to participate in society. We also take care of children and adolescents who "overwhelm" our systems and are committed to the societal debate about children and adolescents with special care needs.
