Although the idea seemed to be for a small circle of friends, a group of entrepreneurial men newly arrived from Paris decided to form a company, taking as an example the work carried out in the French capital by an entity responsible for advising drivers on all their needs. The question was how to adapt the French experience to the Colombian situation? The answer was a real challenge, but a group of forty friends led by Gustavo Santos Montejo decided on October 10, 1940, to bring the Automóvil Club de Colombia to life in Bogotá. However, it was not until April 16, 1941, that through Resolution No. 33 (Executive) of the Ministry of Justice, this institution was legally established, acquiring since then a private, non-profit civil nature.
