The company Kurt Mulfinger was founded in 1945 in Sulzbach/Murr as a repair shop for bicycles, motorcycles, and cars. The company headquarters was a rented hall in Sulzbach/Murr. Shortly after its founding, the company took over the dealership for DKW and Borgward and was able to operate as a DKW wholesaler just a few months later. Eight years after the company was founded, in 1953, a new facility was built in nearby Backnang. After the Borgward brand collapsed, the company, now operating as "Walter Mulfinger GmbH", took over the BMW dealership for the Backnang area. In addition, another facility was built for the Audi dealership, which had also been acquired, in Weissacher Straße in Backnang. Furthermore, the sales company was separated. Today, the company sells an average of about 2,500 new and approximately 3,400 used cars per year and has over 500 employees. In addition to the joint offering of new and used cars and original BMW parts, as well as the sale of MINI vehicles in Schwäbisch Gmünd and Crailsheim, our facilities also offer financial services in the form of leasing and financing packages, as well as insurance. Our facilities in Schwäbisch Hall and Schorndorf also offer the BMW motorcycle program. An independent body shop department has been established in Backnang, Winnenden, Schwäbisch Hall, and Schwäbisch Gmünd, where accident damage is repaired. The Mulfinger company now comprises eleven BMW dealerships with the brands BMW, MINI, and Opel. Since January 2006, the brands Renault and Dacia have also been integrated in Schwäbisch Gmünd and Backnang.
