About AURAL

Founded in 1972 by Professor JAHN, Head of the Nephrology and Hemodialysis Department of the CHRU of Strasbourg, AURAL is a non-profit association offering all treatment modalities for chronic kidney failure, as well as home hospitalization services, and is present throughout the Alsace region. Home hospitalization activity began in May 2004. In 1981 AURAL began Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis. The first assisted dialysis units were established in 1985, and in 1996 the UM units were established. DPA was launched in 1994, allowing young patients to continue working or studying, and enabling elderly individuals to leave hemodialysis centers. AURAL also provides assistance to parents of young patients followed by Strasbourg's hospital pediatric departments. In 2001 AURAL obtained authorizations to educate patients for hemodialysis, and authorization to create a Center at Hautepierre. In 2002 AURAL implemented patient education for peritoneal dialysis. DIALYSIS A pioneer in providing dialysis care outside of hospitals in Alsace for over 40 years, AURAL continues this mission in partnership with regional hospital facilities. The association ensures the comprehensive care of patients requiring dialysis and offers all treatment modalities: Home hemodialysis and in-unit hemodialysis, and home peritoneal dialysis. HOME HOSPITALIZATION Established in 2004 and managed by a multi-professional team, in partnership with independent health professionals, home hospitalization allows for the avoidance or shortening of traditional hospitalization. AURAL Home Hospitalization operates in Strasbourg, its surrounding area, and the canton of Erstein. TRAINING AURAL created its training organization in March 2012 to enhance the quality of patient care through the improvement and sharing of skills among professionals.
