The Association Luxembourg Alzheimer, abbreviated ala, is a network of aid and care specialized in the management of people with dementia. Since its creation in 1987, ala has been committed nationally and internationally to defending the interests of people suffering from dementia and their loved ones. Its various care structures (6 day centers and 1 residential and care home) allow it to offer those affected by the disease all the benefits provided by long-term care insurance throughout the country. As an association, ala also offers numerous other aid and assistance services that go beyond the benefits provided by long-term care insurance. The goals of ala The primary goal of ala is to improve the quality of life for people with dementia and their loved ones. To achieve this, we are committed on several levels: raising public awareness about dementia, collaborating with public and political bodies, social and medical institutions, and healthcare professionals, creating additional day centers and developing new care and management structures for people with dementia, revaluing and highlighting the importance of home care and nursing services, increasing the number of places in care homes for long and short-term stays, implementing in-depth training focused essentially on dementia for healthcare professionals, developing support and counseling groups for families, and globally improving the living conditions of all affected people in our country. Our targeted counseling, support, and care services on the one hand, and our training and awareness-raising offers on the other, support our efforts in this direction.
