AG was incorporated in 1928 and is located in Birmingham, AL. We have 275 employees including more than half who are members of the Retail Wholesale Department Store Union (RWDSU). We receive and ship both dry and refrigerated grocery products from two warehouses covering 483,000 square feet. We receive product during our first shift starting at 5:00 a.m. daily and begin our second shift shipping operation at 4:00 p.m. every afternoon. We carry a full line of refrigerated products including meat, produce, dairy, milk, frozen food and ice cream. The wholesale grocery industry has proven to be an extremely resilient business due to the fact that regardless of whatever bad happens in our world - people always have to eat! Whereas the recent Covid pandemic caused many businesses to shut down temporarily and some even permanently, our business thrived. Our employees never missed a day of work because our sales increased rapidly. While other people were struggling financially, our employees were able to significantly increase their earnings. This historical trend has happened for many years as our business remained strong during inflation, recession, 9/11 attack and Gulf War, to name just a few. We pride ourselves in providing our employees with competitive pay, annual merit increases and excellent benefits. We offer our employees Blue Cross health and dental insurance at much lower rates than most other employers because we understand the financial importance of having reliable insurance to protect our employee and their families. We also provide our employees with life insurance and many other benefits. If you are looking for a great place to work - where work is always available - we invite you to apply for any of our jobs that best match your respective skills and experience. We look forward to meeting and having you join our team!
