The Araújo Jorge - Hospital de Câncer is a private, philanthropic, non-profit institution, a reference in oncological treatment in the Center-West of Brazil. Founded in 1956 by the Alagoan doctor Dr. Alberto Augusto de Araújo Jorge, with the support of the Rotary Club of Goiânia, Araújo Jorge is today the only CACON (Center of High Complexity Assistance in Oncology) in the Center-West region, offering comprehensive cancer treatment — from consultation to diagnosis, including surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy — as well as prevention, education, and research in oncology. By legal requirement, philanthropic institutions must serve at least 60% of their patients through SUS — the Unified Health System. At Araújo Jorge, this percentage is exceeded: several units and services of the institution perform more than 80% of procedures via SUS. Recognized by Goian society, the scientific community, philanthropic organizations, the private sector, public authorities, and its collaborators, volunteers, and associates, Araújo Jorge serves patients from Goiânia, from the interior of the state, and from other regions of the country, performing more than 1 million procedures per year — including consultations, hospitalizations, surgeries, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy sessions. Through Araújo Jorge - Hospital de Câncer, the Anápolis Oncology Unit, and the Institute of Education and Research, the institution also trains health professionals and produces scientific knowledge in oncology.
