About Askersunds kommun

Askersund Municipality is located in southern Närke, at the northern tip of Lake Vättern. Of our approximately 11,500 inhabitants, about a third live in the central town of Askersund, a third in our small towns, and a third in rural areas. The many holiday homes mean our population increases significantly during the summer. Our municipality has a very diverse business sector with activities in practically all industries. There are over 1,600 companies, about 100 new companies are started each year (we were the municipality of the year for new businesses as recently as 2017!), and our companies have collectively generated just over 1,000 new jobs since the turn of the millennium. We are the largest employer in the municipality with just over 1,200 employees. You meet us for example in schools, at nursing homes, in the park, at the culture house Sjöängen, and when you need to apply for a building permit. We want good workplaces where employees thrive and have a good work environment, where there are stimulating tasks, where everyone feels involved and can influence their work situation. The municipality's guiding principles of Lust (Desire), mod (Courage), and engagemang (Commitment) should characterize the contact with the citizens. Even in the future, we want to be an attractive workplace that offers good working conditions and good treatment. We see that in the coming years there will be an increased recruitment need in a number of different professional groups.
