About Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund Landesverband Schleswig-Holstein e.V.

The ASB is a non-profit organization and relief agency that is politically and denominationally independent. We are committed solely to humanity and help all people – regardless of their political, ethnic, national, and religious affiliation. The ASB Schleswig-Holstein is divided into eight regional associations. These include Kiel/Rendsburg-Eckernförde, Lübeck, Ostholstein, Pinneberg-Steinburg, Schleswig-Flensburg, Stormarn-Segeberg, the district of Plön, and the Duchy of Lauenburg. We also offer local help with our ASB Social Center Neumünster and the ASB Nursing Center North Frisia. The ASB is colorful and diverse, which is why our areas of activity are broad. Whether it's outpatient care, inpatient care, day care, civil protection, promoting young people through the ASJ (Arbeiter-Samariter-Jugend), daycare centers, ambulance transport, first aid training, meals on wheels, transport services for people with disabilities, emergency call systems, help for seniors, emergency medical services, medical services for events, or assisted living – "We help here and now," and with a lot of heart. In addition, the ASB has reading and visiting dogs as well as our rescue dogs, so we also have great animal support to cater to our clients or emergency situations. Another very important project is the ASB Wish Wagon, where a team of volunteers fulfills the last wishes of terminally ill people. It is not uncommon for colleagues at the ASB Hospice St. Klemens in Itzehoe to stop by and fulfill a heartfelt wish for our guests. The hospice has been admitting guests since January 2022 and offers the seriously ill a place of peace and retreat, but also of participation. Not everything is perfect yet, especially the work in the outdoor area is ongoing. Nevertheless, our guests and their relatives are already enjoying the pleasant atmosphere of the house.
