The Apothekerkammer Westfalen-Lippe is the professional representation of the Westphalian-Lippe pharmacists in the state of NRW. The chamber district, responsible for the administrative districts of Arnsberg, Detmold, and Münster, comprises 27 districts and independent cities. The chamber's administrative office is located in Münster. Since 1945, the professional association of the free healing profession has actively and committedly represented its members. It ensures the preservation of a high-standing profession. The Apothekerkammer Westfalen-Lippe is anchored and legitimized in the Heilberufsgesetz (Health Professions Act) for the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and is subordinate to the state's Ministry of Health as the supervisory ministry. The consistent further development of the pharmacy profession is a concern of the Apothekerkammer Westfalen-Lippe. The benefit and interests of the patient are self-evident guiding principles of action, as is the willingness to engage in dialogue with politics and society on all issues of pharmacy and healthcare. Pharmacists are legally mandated to ensure the proper supply of medicines to the population. To fulfill this mandate, the Apothekerkammer Westfalen-Lippe supports its members. Services in areas such as initial and continuing education, further training, advice on professional practice and pharmaceutical matters, public relations both internally and externally, and various social institutions are a selection from the spectrum of a large catalog of tasks. Today, the Apothekerkammer Westfalen-Lippe has approximately 7,575 pharmacists as members – this number has tripled in half a century. The significant increase in chamber members – with stagnating to declining numbers of pharmacies – shows the growing demand for pharmaceutical expertise in our healthcare system: Pharmacists are important for our healthcare system and the preservation of its undisputed high quality.
