The Association des Paralysés de France (APF), created in 1933 and recognized as being of public utility, is a national associative movement for the defense and representation of people with motor or multiple disabilities and their families, bringing together 24,500 members, 30,000 users, 25,000 volunteers, and 13,500 employees. With a unique project of general interest “For an inclusive society!”, APF works for equal rights, citizenship, social participation, and the free choice of lifestyle for people with disabilities and their families. APF carries within it democratic values and practices that define its orientations and actions. In its charter, which follows the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, APF affirms its independence from any political party and any religion and the primacy of the person: “The human being cannot be reduced to their disability or illness whatever they may be. As a citizen, the disabled person exercises their responsibilities in society: they have the choice and control over their existence.” The association operates in many areas, at the international, national, regional, and departmental levels, through its departmental delegations and its headquarters as well as its medico-social services and establishments and its adapted companies. APF campaigns for the promotion of rights.
