About ANSES

The National Food, Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety Agency (Anses) is a public administrative body under the supervision of the ministries responsible for Agriculture, Consumer Affairs, the Environment, Health and Labor. It operates in the fields of work, the environment, food, animal health and welfare, and plant health with a priority objective: to contribute to ensuring the safety of workers and consumers. To develop public health recommendations, Anses implements independent, multidisciplinary, collective and adversarial scientific expertise. It relies on a network of 11 reference and research laboratories at 18 sites. They have missions of expertise, epidemiological surveillance, alert, and scientific and technical advice. They thus play an essential role in qualifying hazards by collecting data from accredited laboratory networks.
