History of the Home Ambrosio Guillen Texas State Veterans Home in El Paso was approved and built in Commissioner Patterson's administration. The home is named after Medal of Honor recipient, Marine Staff Sgt. Ambrosio Guillen. In Korea, Sgt. Guillen died defending his troops from a nighttime Chinese attack. Commissioner Jerry Patterson dedicated the home on July 19, 2005.
